Dune: Part Two is reportedly projected to open with a $65 million to $80 million weekend at the domestic box office.

As per Comicbook.com, Dune: Part Two will seemingly crush the first film’s domestic opening weekend numbers of $41 million. Its presale tickets are currently outpacing Oppenheimer, which opened with $82.5 million. So, there is also a chance for Dune 2 to open around a similar figure as several optimistic estimates for its opening weekend also range between $75-80 million.
As per Boxoffice Pro’s long-range predictions, Dune: Part Two could make between $125-195 million towards the end of its domestic run. This is significantly more than the first movie’s $108 million domestic total. Furthermore, the film is expected to be big in international markets as it could go on to make more than Dune’s global total of $402 million. But will it flop or succeed?

Considering Dune: Part Two’s production budget and opening predictions, all signs point towards a major success at the box office.
Dune 2 was reportedly produced on a $190 million budget. Assuming it has a similar or slightly smaller marketing budget than this number, it may need to make over $400 million to turn in a profit (as almost half of the box office intake is allegedly kept by theater chains).
Since Dune 2 is projected to beat the first film’s domestic and global total, it could become one of the bigger success stories of 2024. Furthermore, Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka proved that he has the potential to be a huge box office draw overseas, pulling in close to $400 million out of international markets, and almost touching $600 million globally.
With him being supported by the likes of Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Dave Bautista among others, Dune: Part Two has the potential to be even bigger. It will be interesting to see if the film supersedes its early estimates.
