After new reports of a Game of Thrones Spin-off Aegon’s Conquest being made hit the web, fans are wondering if that is the case and whether HBO is making it or not. Here is all you need to know.
Is a new Game of Thrones spin-off being made by HBO?
A new Game of Thrones spin-off is reportedly being made by HBO.
As per a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, HBO is developing another Game of Thrones spin-off series based on the long-discussed Aegon’s Conquest storyline. If this report is to be believed, then this will be the third Game of Thrones spin-off after the recent House of the Dragon series and the upcoming A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight series.
Moreover, according to the report, HBO is partnering with Mattson Tomlin to develop the Game of Thrones spin-off series’ script. Tomlin reportedly previously did uncredited work for Matt Reeves’ The Batman and is also co-writing the sequel The Batman Part II. Also, as per his IMDb page, Tomlin worked on projects such as Mother/Android, Little Fish, Project Power, and Terminator: The Anime Series.
HBO has not yet officially commented on the project’s confirmation as of this writing.
The story of Aegon’s Conquest will reportedly be a Game of Thrones prequel in a similar vein to House of the Dragon. The story revolves around Aegon Targaryen and his conquering of the Westeros continent with sister-wives Rhaenys and Visenya and his successful unification of the Seven Kingdoms seen in Game of Thrones in a span of two years.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s source, the project is said to take a “back to basics” approach to George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones universe. However, the outlet is unclear as to what the approach is exactly.
