What is the Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus drama about?
The Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus’s apparent conflict allegedly traces its origins to a slow family rift that reportedly began in 2022, following Billy Ray’s divorce from his wife and Miley’s mother Tish Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus, who recently won her first Grammy for her song ‘Flowers’, and Billy Ray Cyrus gained widespread acclaim in 2006 with the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, wherein they played daughter and father, respectively. The two also collaborated on a few songs together. Miley’s success soon reached new heights and Billy Ray and his wife Tish were the strongest supporters of it.
However, reportedly Miley Cyrus’ relationship with her father strained in 2022, following the latter’s divorce from her mother. The tensions seemingly escalated when Billy Ray Cyrus tied the knot with an Australian musician, Firerose, of similar age to Miley, which reportedly made the latter even more uncomfortable. She allegedly showed her discomfort by not attending their wedding in October 2023. On the contrary, Miley Cyrus supported her mother Tish’s second marriage and even assumed the role of Maid of Honor during her wedding to Prison Break star Dominic Purcell.
The apparent rift between the ‘Flowers’ singer and Billy Ray Cyrus did not stay with them alone and reportedly bled into the family as well. Miley and her half-siblings Trace and Brandi supported their mother and attended her wedding, whereas, other members of the Cyrus clan, Noah and Braison, appear to have sided with their father and remained close to him.
However, there has been no official comment from either of them regarding their reported rift.
