Death and Other Details episode 5 ended with Rufus finding a secret pathway hiding in plain sight on the ship.
Episode 5 “Exquisite” saw Rufus, Imogene, and Leila get one step closer to finding the identity of Victor Sams. While Imogene teamed up with Sunil to find the killer of her mother on land, Rufus continued his investigation on the ship.
Meanwhile, Anna lost her wife Leila, who asked her for a divorce. Later, she also lost credibility and the potential to be the CEO of Collier Mills by not being able to close the $3 billion deal with the Chuns. When the Chun family asked for 51% of the company, Anna was willing to walk out. But her father Lawrence Collier accepted the deal to save the company.
Towards the end, Imogene had to hand over the only evidence she had against her mother’s killer to Sunil’s contact, Ines. But she put her trust in Sunil and the two even shared a kiss while returning to the ship.
Rufus, on the other hand, was able to figure out how Victor Sams ran his entire operation without leaving a trace. After finding a camera in Leila’s room, he investigated the ship alongside Teddy and Leila. Noticing that the ship’s pathways suddenly got narrower, he broke down the wall and found a secret tech room that possibly allowed Victor Sams and his group to maintain a presence on the ship. But who is this mystery persona?
Is Sunil Victor Sams in Death and Other Details?
Death and Other Details episode 5 presented a lot of hints suggesting that Sunil Bhandari could be Victor Sams. But that may not be the case!
Throughout the episode, we see him gaining Imogene’s trust. He also revealed that he closely monitored his ship being built. Furthermore, he gave the only clue Imogene had against Victor Sams to his own contact. So, it could be theorized that he is the killer that Rufus and Imogene are looking for.
Rahul Kohli, who plays Sunil in the show, is 38 years old. So, Sunil could also be around 38-40 years old, which means that he could have been involved in the killing of Imogene’s mother 18 years ago. Over time, he could have recruited Winnie and several others into his group. Most importantly, he could have been the one who had the ship’s secret tech rooms and pathways built.
So, there are plenty of clues pointing to the fact that he is the real mastermind behind all the deaths in this murder mystery. But considering that there are still about 5 more episodes to go, the reveal of the real Victor Sams may not come so soon.
Sunil turning out to be Victor is an easier prediction compared to other characters. So, the answer to “Who is Victor Sams?” may not be as easy as it seems. Sunil was easily fooled by Jules, who kept transporting refugees on his ship without him noticing. So, it’s entirely possible that the real Victor’s crew would have been involved in building Sunil’s ship, placing all the tech and secret pathways for him.
It’ll be interesting to see who the real Victor is, but Sunil Bhandari may not be the one!
