After fans got to know Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera’s reactions to Margot Robbie‘s Barbie Oscar snub, they are now curious about Robbie’s reaction and what she had to say about being snubbed. Here is how the lead actress and producer of Barbie reacted.
How did Margot Robbie react to her Barbie Oscar snub?
Margot Robbie had a positive and understanding reaction to her Barbie Oscar snub. She expressed gratitude for the eight nominations the film received for the 96th Academy Awards.
In an appearance at a special SAG screening, Robbie said that there was no way to feel sad about being snubbed when she knew how blessed she and her fellow cast and crew from the film were, referring to the eight nominations Barbie received. She then claimed that she was “beyond ecstatic” for the nominations Barbie received which included Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
However, Robbie did express her opinion that Greta Gerwig should have been nominated, praising her work as the director of the film, saying:
“Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is.”
Margot Robbie ultimately claimed that she felt she and the others who worked on the film got a bigger reward than a nomination as they achieved what they wanted to with the film by making a cultural impact.
Fans can ultimately take solace in knowing that Robbie did get recognized in the Best Picture category as a producer, which is her first nomination in that field. She shares the Best Picture nomination with her fellow producers, which include her husband, Tom Ackerley.
