What is the Deadpool 2 Taylor Swift cameo?
The Taylor Swift cameo in Deadpool 2 is not from the singer-songwriter herself but from her cats, Olivia and Meredith.
In one scene in Deadpool 2, Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson is shown wearing a t-shirt that has a picture of the cats Olivia and Meredith on it with the following line “Olivia & Meredith. Best Friends Purrrr-ever”. These cats of course belong to Taylor Swift. The Deadpool 2 crew reportedly had to get permission from Swift herself to use a picture of those cats in the movie.
Taylor Swift then took to Instagram and put up two stories in which she first asked Meredith how she felt making a small appearance on the big screen for the first time via Deadpool 2 to which the cat simply did a rumbling purr. Swift took the rumbling purr as a sign that the cat was proud to have made an appearance.
Swift then asked Olivia’s thoughts on the matter claiming that the world was eager to know about what the cat was feeling, to which that cat did not say anything and simply walked away after being silent for a while.
Why does Deadpool wear a cat T-shirt?
Deadpool wore a cat T-shirt as the actor behind him Ryan Reynolds likely wanted to give a shoutout to Taylor Swift via Deadpool 2.
As fans especially Swifties would know, Ryan Reynolds and his wife are long-time friends with Swift. Ryan and Blake’s daughters James, Inez, and Betty got a shoutout in Swift’s song Betty wherein she named the characters after their daughters.
