However, according to a semi-reliable but reputed industry insider and scooper Daniel RPK via Patreon, Marvel Studios is not only making a new Iron Fist project but is also positioning a female character as the lead of the project. Moreover, RPK also revealed that Marvel was also considering various formats for the project’s adaptation, including an animated series.
Ultimately this is only a rumor. As such, fans should take this scoop with a huge grain of salt and wait for official confirmation from Marvel on the matter.
Who could be the female Iron Fist in the MCU?
Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing is the most obvious choice for the female Iron Fist in the MCU.
This is because the character received the mantle of the Iron Fist from Danny Rand himself by the end of the former Netflix show’s second season after the latter learned that Colleen Wing was the descendant of Wu Ao-Shi, the first woman to defeat Shou-Lao. It’s also possible to bring this event into the MCU’s timeline now following the canonization of the Netflix shows within the wider MCU.
Moreover, Wing’s actress Jessica Henwick revealed that she would love to reprise the role in the MCU’s future in an interview with Comicbook.com, where she also revealed that she had turned down a role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with the hopes of playing Colleen Wing again.
However, if Marvel decides not to bring back Henwick or Wing and instead incorporate a new actor and character, multiple actresses could bring the role to life such as Hoyeon Jung or Natasha Liu Bordizzo.
