Ariana Grande just dropped the first song of her new album Eternal Sunshine, titled “Yes, and?” and some lyrics of the song have stirred up drama and got fans talking. So many fans want to know what all the drama is about and why a lot of people are unfollowing Ariana Grande.
What is the “Yes and?” Ariana Grande drama?
The ‘Yes and?’ Ariana Grande drama was sparked by a mixed reaction to the singer’s latest song, which featured some lyrics that seemed to take a jab at all the backlash surrounding her reported relationship with her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.
The lyrics that seemed to have started all the drama appear to reference a controversy between Ariana Grande and social media users who have accused her of destroying Slater’s relationship with his ex-wife Lilly Jay, who publicly denounced Grande via Page Six by claiming she was not a “girl’s girl”. The lyrics are:
“Your business is yours and mine is mine / Why do you care so much whose dick I ride?”
Prior to this, sources that were close to both Grande and Slater claimed that the two started seeing each other after they both became single.
Ariana Grande did once address the backlash regarding the controversy via a 2023 Instagram story where she said:
“I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life,”
Though there has been social media backlash, there are some other users who have supported Grande and echoed her sentiments that the public does not know the ins and outs of her relationship with Ethan Slater.
