Created by Karin Gist and Wendy Calhoun, who drew inspiration from the 1999 namesake book by Lawrence Otis Graham, Our Kind of People predominantly takes place in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, and revolves around Angela Vaughn, a single mother determined to re-establish the affluence and prestige of her family and succeed in the world of business with her hair care line. Season 1 originally aired on Fox between September 21, 2021, and January 25, 2022. If you are wondering whether there will be an Our Kind of People Season 2, this is what we have discovered.
Here’s all we know about Our Kind of People Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there an Our Kind of People Season 2 release date?
There is no Our Kind of People Season 2 release date as Fox canceled the show after Season 1.
In May 2022, Our Kind of People was canceled at Fox after its inaugural season, leaving several mysteries from the season unsolved. This is even though series co-creator Karin Gist revealed in January 2022 that the network was happy with the first season. The show received poor reviews from the critics, and the audience’s response to it wasn’t particularly positive either. These things likely contributed to Fox’s decision to cancel the show.
The cast includes Yaya DaCosta as Angela Vaughn, Nadine Ellis as Leah Franklin Dupont, Lance Gross as Tyrique Chapman, Rhyon Nicole Brown as Lauren Dupont, Alana Kay Bright as Nikki Vaughn, Kyle Bary as Quincy Dupont, Joe Morton as Teddy Franklin, Morris Chestnut as Raymond Dupont, and more.
Why Our Kind of People Season 2 isn’t happening
Our Kind of People Season 2 isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the series was canceled after one season. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.
The official synopsis for Our Kind of People reads:
“A strong-willed single mom sets out to reclaim her family’s name and make an impact with her revolutionary haircare line but discovers a dark secret about her own mother’s past that will turn her world upside-down.”
