Escape from L.A. is a post-apocalyptic action movie directed by John Carpenter. The movie begins with Los Angeles being struck by a massive earthquake in 2000. The San Fernando Valley was flooded and cut off from the mainland. A theocratic presidential candidate takes advantage of the situation and wins the election for a lifetime term in office. His daughter, Utopia, sides with the resistance movement and steals the control unit for a doomsday weapon. After a series of failures on missions, Snake is assigned a mission to find the weapon and the girl.
