Created by Nick Antosca and Michelle Dean, The Act is a true crime biographical drama series streaming on Hulu. The plot chronicles the life of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the circumstances that eventually led to the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The series premiered on March 20, 2019, and garnered mostly positive responses. Is there a The Act Season 2 release date?
There is no The Act Season 2 release date as the show hasn’t been greenlit for the second season.
Although The Act was developed as a seasonal anthology series, its second season has not been announced as of early January 2024 and some sources even designate it as an eight-part limited series. In March 2019, series co-creator Michelle Dean discussed the prospect of the second season in an interview with Esquire.
“There’s no Season Two right now, in the sense that Hulu has not picked it up,” the author and freelance journalist said. “We’re still in post-production, so I think we’re focused on getting this story out to the public, and we’ll think about it. The Act was designed as an anthology: obviously the title refers to a couple things. Obviously the act of the crime, but also the act that Dee Dee and Gypsy were putting on for the public, so yeah. If there were a Season Two, those are the stories that we would be interested in telling.”
As more than three years have passed since then, Season 2 seems unlikely.
