Throughout his career, he has tried to evolve as an actor by taking on roles across different genres involving comedy, drama, musical, and action movies. He continues to do exactly that in all his upcoming films, which have been listed below.

The Iron Claw
The Iron Claw is based on the true story of how the Von Erich brothers from Texas established a dynasty of professional wrestlers. While competing in highly competitive pro wrestling matches, they created history during the 1980s. In the film that arrives on December 22, 2023, we see Efron playing the oldest brother, Kevin Von Erich.
This role is arguably the toughest that he has taken on in his career so far. It didn’t just demand skills as an actor, but a lot of physicality as well. So, Efron took up a strict workout regimen to bulk up for the role, which Kevin Von Erich himself appreciated. The actor’s dedication is pretty apparent in the trailers! Besides him, The Iron Claw stars Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, and Holt McCallany, among others.
A Family Affair
Initially arriving in November 2023, this comedy was delayed by Netflix to 2024. In it, we follow Joey King as Zara, who works for a demanding and womanizing narcissist movie star, Chris Cole, played by Zac Efron.
After quitting as his assistant, she finds out that he and her widowed mother (played by Nicole Kidman) are dating. How she deals with the consequences of this uncanny relationship while grappling with the complications of love, sex, and identity becomes the selling point of the film.
Ricky Stanicky
Zac Efron co-stars as the lead alongside John Cena in this R-rated comedy. In it, 3 teenagers create a fake person named Ricky Stanicky and use him as an alibi to get out of troubling situations. But things get intense when 20 years later, their spouses want to meet Stanicky.
So, they hire a performer to play Stanicky, leading to several comedic situations. Directed by Peter Farrelly, Ricky Stanicky is yet to find a concrete release date.
Three Men and a Baby
Disney is coming up with a remake of the 1987 comedy, Three Men and a Baby. With a script penned by Will Reichel and Maurice “Mo” Marable taking on the director’s chair, the film is currently in its pre-production stage.
It will retell the story of three bachelors who suddenly find a baby girl on their doorstep left by one of the men’s exes. So far, Zack Efron is the only name attached to the reboot and he could be playing one of the three bachelors. But it’s far from getting an official release date.
