After a reputed industry insider claimed that Marvel reportedly met with some writers to discuss penning their MCU X-Men reboot and also having Mister Sinister as its main villain, Marvel fans want to know if there is any truth to these claims. Here is all you need to know.
Will Mister Sinister Be the Main Villain of X-Men in the MCU?
Mister Sinister has not been officially confirmed to be the main villain of the MCU’s X-Men as of publishing.
As of publishing, Mister Sinister has not yet been confirmed as the main villain of the MCU’s X-Men reboot. However, according to reputed but semi-reliable industry insider and scooper Daniel RPK, aka Daniel Richtman, Mister Sinister is reportedly the main villain of the upcoming MCU reboot featuring Marvel’s most iconic team. Not only that, Marvel Studios also does not want to feature Magneto, the most famous X-Men villain, in any capacity as they want the MCU’s X-Men to be different from the Fox films.
Marvel and X-Men fans, particularly fans of the 20th Century Fox X-Men films, will be excited about this scoop as it means Mister Sinister is making his much-awaited live-action debut. Mister Sinister was previously teased in X-Men: Apocalypse’s post-credits scene via his alter-ego Nathaniel Essex, and he was also reportedly set to appear as the main villain of 2017’s Logan. However, plans changed and the character was ultimately not used.
Who is Mister Sinister?
Mister Sinister is a villain who is one of the major archenemies of the X-Men alongside the likes of Magneto and Apocalypse.
In the comics, Mister Sinister was a human scientist named Nathaniel Essex, who was greatly interested in mutants and their abilities. He soon crossed paths with a centuries-old mutant En Sabah Nur aka Apocalypse and was transformed by him into an ageless being with superpowers using celestial technology. Since then, Mister Sinister has gone to menace the X-Men, in particular the heroes Cyclops and Jean Grey, as he was keenly interested in their powers. He also became the leader of a mutant tracker group known as The Marauders.
