In 2018, the H Collective and Vin Diesel’s One Race Films acquired the rights to the XXX franchise from Revolution Studios. In September of that year, it was reported that the H Collective had joined forces with Chinese streaming platform iQIYI to develop several projects, with the fourth entry in the XXX franchise being one of them. D. J. Caruso, who helmed the third film, was reportedly slated to return as the director, and Diesel was set to once more star as Xander Cage.
The production was supposed to begin in early 2019, but that didn’t happen. In the same year, Japanese musician Yoshiki joined the project as the composer. Since then, not much has been heard about the project until September 2023 when it was revealed that XXX4 was in the H Collective’s slate. If the movie finally goes into production in 2024, there is a considerable chance for it to come out in 2025 at the earliest.
