As of December 2023, Percy Jackson and the Olympians hasn’t been officially renewed for season 2. This is expected as the first season hasn’t come out yet, and Disney will likely assess the audience’s response to it before making any official announcement. However, in March 2023, Riordan revealed on his website that they had begun working on the writers’ room for the sophomore season before clarifying that it didn’t mean that season 2 had been greenlit.
“But we have been approved to start developing scripts, and I think everyone’s expectation is that a second season will happen if all goes as planned,” the author and series co-creator wrote. “It sure is exciting to be part of the room, though. We’ve broken down the action of the second Percy Jackson book, The Sea of Monsters, into a series of episodes and have begun outlining what the first episodes would look like.”
In November 2023, the release of three teaser blurry photos led to speculation about the prospective season 2 on social media. Previously, promotional materials have been released that refer to elements that appear in the second and the third books.
