fans are excited after the confirmation of a Death Stranding movie being in the works under the purview of Hideo Kojima and Hammerstone Studios, and they are also curious about whether or not Norman Reedus will reprise his role as protagonist Sam Bridges. Here is all you need to know.
Will Norman Reedus play Sam Bridges in the Death Stranding movie?
As of publishing, Norman Reedus has not been officially confirmed to reprise his role of Sam Bridges from the Death Stranding video game in the Death Stranding movie.
As of publishing, Norman Reedus has not been confirmed to play Sam Bridges in the Death Stranding movie. Moreover, there is also a chance that Reedus may or may not appear as Sam Bridges in the movie adaptation based on comments made by Hideo Kojima, the game director and developer of Death Stranding. In a December 2022 interview with IGN, Kojima expressed that he would be taking the liberty to change a lot of aspects of the story in the movie to suit the movie itself and not the story of the game, which can only mean a separate original story that may not involve Sam or any of the other game characters like Lea Seydoux’s Fragile and Mads Mikkelsen’s Cliff Unger.
Then again, if Sam Bridges does end up appearing in the movie adaptation, Norman Reedus would be the perfect fit for the role. However, there is also the possibility that Reedus may play a different character if the movie has a different story if Kojima’s comments are any indication.
As of publishing, the only other things known about the movie are that it will not be a blockbuster-style film but will be more arthouse in its design, according to Kojima. Also known is that Kojima will be involved in other aspects of the film adaptation’s development but will not be directing it, as revealed in a tweet by the game developer on June 2023.
