Leave the World Behind involves a major scene featuring multiple Teslas and the CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, reacted to the scene. Here’s what he wrote about the sequence in Netflix’s latest movie featuring Mahershala Ali and Julia Roberts.
What were Elon Musk’s comments about the Leave the World Behind Tesla scene?
Replying to the Tesla scene involving multiple cars crashing while chasing a family, Musk simply stated that all Tesla cars could charge with Solar panels and survive an electric-free apocalyptic situation.
Reacting to the scene involving his company’s cars in Netflix’s Leave the World Behind, Elon Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“Teslas can charge from solar panels even if the world goes fully Mad Max and there is no more gasoline!”
This comment didn’t really have anything to do with the Tesla scene itself. But we can make out what Musk wants to promote about Tesla vehicles, as his reaction states that if the world were to run out of resources, Teslas could still operate using solar energy.
What happens to Tesla in Leave the World Behind?
In Leave the World Behind, a cyber-attack puts Tesla’s self-driving capabilities into effect, causing multiple driverless Teslas to crash while Amanda (Julia Roberts) and her family try to evade them.

The above clip is what triggered Elon Musk’s Tesla response on Twitter. But, it’s needless to say that the creatives of Leave the World Behind used this feature of Tesla vehicles quite well and delivered an intense sequence.
The film stars Julia Roberts as Amanda, Ethan Hawke as Clay, Mahershala Ali as George ‘G.H.’ Washington, Myha’la Herrold as Ruth Washington, and Kevin Bacon as Danny. Its official synopsis reads:
“A family vacation on Long Island is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout. As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world.”
