It’s worth noting that Time Magazine doesn’t give the Person of the Year award out for good deeds. It’s not a symbol of praise. Instead, it is awarded to “the individual who shaped the headlines over the previous 12 months, for better or for worse.” Evil people are just as likely to receive it for dominating headlines, making it available to all popular personalities.
How becoming Time’s Person of the Year will impact Taylor Swift’s public perception remains to be seen. Perhaps Elon Musk’s warning will be appreciated, or maybe not. Time will tell.
