At the moment of writing, Nicholas Sparks’ The Return has reportedly offered the lead role to Charlie Hunnam.
Industry Insider Daniel Richtman revealed via his Paetron that Charlie Hunnam is currently the only actor who is in contention to star in The Return. The 43-year-old British actor is famous for playing Jax Teller in the FX series Sons of Anarchy.
Besides that, he is also known for starring in the Apple TV+ series, Shantaram, and multiple other high-profile movies including Pacific Rim and The Gentlemen. Now, he could be starring in The Return, which is set to be written by Tom Dean.

Charlie Hunnam has reportedly been offered the leading role of Trevor Benson in The Return. Whether Hunnam accepts the role remains to be seen.
In this romance drama, an orthopedic Navy surgeon Trevor comes back home after sustaining deadly injuries in Afghanistan. But not being able to find any jobs, he travels to North Carolina to get a deal for the cabin he inherited from his grandfather. This is where the thrilling drama begins as he starts to fall in love with a local deputy sheriff Natalie Masterson.
The focus soon shifts to Natalie and the mysterious secret she is hiding. Another player in the story is a 17-year-old girl named Callie, who once befriended Trevor’s grandfather before his demise. As the plot thickens, Trevor tries to find what Natalie is hiding and the secrets about his grandfather’s death that Callie is seemingly aware of.
