Peaky Blinders is a period crime-drama series that originally aired for six seasons between September 12, 2013, and April 3, 2022, garnering widespread criminal acclaim and overwhelmingly positive response from the audience and establishing Tommy Shelby, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, and his titular gang, as pop-culture phenomena. When the sixth and final season was announced, series creator Steven Knight revealed that a Peaky Blinders movie was in development. If you are wondering when it is coming out, we got you covered.
Here’s all the Peaky Blinders Movie release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there a Peaky Blinders Movie release date?
Peaky Blinders Movie does not have an official release date, but it can be announced in the future.
In January 2021, after it was announced that the sixth season would be the last chapter of Peaky Blinders as a show, Steven Knight revealed his plans for a sequel film. He told Variety, “We are in development. It’s a fully formed idea and it has a beginning, middle and end. And I think it’s going to be a fitting conclusion to the story told so far, but from it, there will be things I don’t really call spinoffs, but there will be other TV shows that I hope will come out of [it], that will continue to tell the story of this part of society and this family.”
In the series finale, Tommy realizes that his doctor lied to him and he doesn’t have inoperable tuberculoma. After deciding not to kill the doctor and burning all his remaining possessions, Tommy rides away into the sunset.
While the ending sets up the prospective film and despite Knight’s statement, not much has been heard about it since then. In December 2023, during Variety’s Actors on Actors, Murphy told Barbie actress Margot Robbie that he was open to the idea, adding, “I’ve always thought that if there’s more story to tell.”
After the success of Oppenheimer, Murphy is likely one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. As for Knight, he is currently involved in multiple projects, including BBC’s This Town, FX production’s The Veil, Disney Plus’ A Thousand Blows, and a biographical film on Maria Callas. It is safe to state that the Peaky Blinders Movie isn’t coming out anytime soon.
The cast can potentially include Cillian Murphy as Thomas “Tommy” Shelby, Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby Jr., and more.
