After rumors about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 combining the SSU and MCU and making them part of one shared universe hit the web, fans are curious to know if that will be the case. Here is all you need to know.
Will the SSU and MCU combine in Spider-Man 4?
The SSU and MCU are not yet confirmed to combine in Spider-Man 4.
Semi-reliable industry insider and scooper Daniel Richman (Daniel RPK) has claimed that Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man 4 will feature more connections to the SSU and would pave the way for a possible merger between the Sony Spider-Man Universe, which features the likes of Venom, Morbius and Kraven the Hunter, and Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, as with all rumors, take this with a huge grain of salt, as neither Sony Pictures nor Marvel Studios have confirmed this detail.
It’s worth reminding superhero fans that Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, and Spider-Man: No Way Home teased the possibilities via their after-credits scenes.
For instance, Let There Be Carnage’s post-credits scene saw Tom Hardy’s Venom arrive in the MCU. Not only that, Venom also revealed that he belongs to a hive mind that is strongly tied to the multiverse. Then, No Way Home saw Hardy’s Venom return to the SSU, but not without leaving a piece of the symbiote behind.
Then, the critically panned Morbius after-credits scenes saw the MCU’s Vulture arrive in the SSU where he found Michael Morbius and offered to team up with him.
Furthermore, the newly released Madame Web trailer teased the eponymous character’s connection to the Web of Life and Destiny, which also has ties to the Spider-Verse and multiverse, creating a thread that could connect to the animated Spider-Verse films and the MCU Spider-Man films.
Ultimately, it is unknown how this will play out as nothing has been officially confirmed and everything about this is all rumors. As such, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from Marvel Studios and Sony.
