The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes Ending Explained & Spoilers

After The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes‘ ending left many fans speechless, they are curious about what really happened. Here is the ending explained with spoilers.

Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Ending Explained

Did Lucy Gray-Baird die?

It is unknown if Lucy Gray-Baird died or is still alive, as the end of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes left her fate ambiguous.

Lucy was shot by Coriolanus, but it was unclear where she was hit. It’s also important to note that Coriolanus was bitten by a snake, as a result of a trap laid by Lucy, and he was hallucinating having shot her in the woods. Thus, it’s possible that she might have escaped and gone north as per her intentions.

It is also possible that she was found by the Capitol and killed off-screen on the orders of Dr. Gaul so that she would not hinder them in any way.

What did Tigris Snow tell Coriolanus Snow?

Tigris Snow told Coriolanus Snow that he looked like his father, hinting that she could see him becoming cruel and hateful.

At the beginning of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Tigris tells Coriolanus that he does not have to be like his father, who used to be cruel and heartless. However, by the end of the film, she said he looked just like his father, implying she could see his life’s trajectory leading him to become the evil dictator seen in the original The Hunger Games films.

Why did Dean Highbottom hate Coriolanus Snow?

Dean Highbottom hated Coriolanus Snow due to his hatred for Coriolanus’ late father Crassus and because of how Coriolanus was like his father personality-wise.

Dean Highbottom used to be best friends with Crassus Snow until the latter submitted the idea for The Hunger Games to Dr. Gaul. This made Casca angry and resentful toward Crassus. This anger and hatred carried over to Coriolanus, whom he believed was like his father in many ways. Highbottom’s hatred motivated him to sabotage Coriolanus’ attempts to win the Plinth Prize.
