Directed by Son Jong-hyun, Twinkling Watermelon is a South Korean drama series that tells the story of Ha Eun-gyeol, a CODA boy with a prodigious gift for music. After traveling back in time to 1995 and encountering the younger versions of his parents, Eun-gyeol resolves to change his family’s future.
Season 1, consisting of 16 episodes, originally aired on tvN between September 25, 2023, and November 14, 2023. Want to know if season 2 is coming out? You have come to the right place.
Here’s all we know about Twinkling Watermelon Season 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Twinkling Watermelon Season 2 release date?
There is no Twinkling Watermelon Season 2 release date as of this writing as the series seems to have ended after Season 1. ComingSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.
The first season draws to a close with a happy ending for the protagonist, Ha Eun-gyeol. Although he fails to prevent the accident, which resulted in his father’s hearing loss, from happening, he ensures that his mother’s life is altered for good. Eun-gyeol returns to 2023, where his parents are together; he and his brother were born, and he is still making music as part of a band.
While some minor plot threads remain open at the end of season 1, likely due to the show’s pacing, season 2 is unlikely to happen. Korean dramas, or for that matter East Asian TV shows in general, don’t often get more than one season, though exceptions obviously exist. Given how season 1 ends, it is safe to speculate that Twinkling Watermelon will not be one of those exceptions.
The cast includes Ryeoun as Ha Eun-gyeol, Jung Hyeon-jun as young Eun-gyeol, Choi Hyun-wook as Ha Yi-chan, Choi Won-young as 46 years old Yi-chan, Seol In-ah as Choi Se-kyung / On Eun-yoo, Lee So-yeon as 46 years old Choi Se-kyung, Shin Eun-soo as Yoon Cheong-ah, Seo Young-hee as 46 years old Yoon Cheong-ah, and more.
Why Twinkling Watermelon Season 2 might not be happening
Twinkling Watermelon Season 2 probably isn’t coming out because, as mentioned above, the first season concludes after giving the main characters satisfying endings and closing almost all the plot threads.
The official synopsis for Twinkling Watermelon reads:
“A CODA (child of deaf adult) student born with a gift for music crash lands at an unfamiliar place after time-traveling through a suspicious music shop. There, he forms the band Watermelon Sugar with other mysterious youths.”
