Selling Sunset viewers have been curious about whether or not the series is scripted, fake, or real ever since it hit Netflix. Here is all you need to know.
Is Selling Sunset scripted and fake?
According to Jason Oppenheim and Chrishell Stause, Selling Sunset is not scripted. However, on the other hand, according to former Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn, the show is scripted.
In an interview with Metro, Oppenheim revealed that the show was not scripted and that they are never told or scripted to say anything. However, Oppenheim then added by saying that in some situations, if certain things had to be addressed or if they were meeting a client, they would be asked to wait until they got the footage on camera but again stressed that the show was not scripted.
Chrishell Stause also echoed Oppenheim’s statements by once responding to fan Q&As on Instagram by claiming that the reality TV series was not scripted and stated that if it was scripted, she would be swearing on her own accord.
However, on the other hand, some people, like former Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn, who played an antagonistic character on the show, claimed that the show was scripted in 2022 when she told fans via Twitter ahead of the fifth season launch “to enjoy the new season and its 5000 fake storylines.”
Quinn later followed up on her comments in an interview with US Weekly where she said that Chelsea Lazkani and her were friends but that they would be put in separate rooms after arriving on set. She then revealed that she and Chelsea would be made to be enemies after people would tell her how Chelsea thought poorly of her in one scene, and Chelsea would be told how Quinn thought poorly of her in another.
Ultimately, due to contrasting answers, it is impossible to say for a fact whether or not Selling Sunset is scripted.
