Fans await the release of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, but will Kevin Costner’s John Dutton return in it? Here’s all you need to know about the possibility of his comeback in the second half of Yellowstone season 5.
Why Kevin Costner’s John Dutton might not return in Yellowstone season 5 part 2
Kevin Costner was reported to leave Yellowstone after Season 5, having a small appearance in Part 2. But new reports suggest that his character has been completely abandoned in Season 5 Part 2.
Earlier this year, Deadline reported that Costner wanted to exit Yellowstone to direct and star in his new movie series, Horizon: An American Saga. To make that happen, he reportedly wanted to shoot Yellowstone Season 5 Part 1 for 50 days instead of his original 65-day schedule. As for Part 2, he only wanted to shoot for one week, which was too little for the creatives involved with the series.
While he continued to appear as the lead in Part 1, his small filming schedule in Part 2 could have given his character an exit from the series. However, that couldn’t be accomplished as Part 2’s production was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
But now, on the latest episode of his The Town podcast, Matthew Belloni stated that Part 2 has left Costner’s John Dutton behind altogether. With the production soon to begin, he isn’t expected to be a part of it. It’s important to note that Belloni mentioned “as of now” in his statement to answer whether Costner was returning. He said:
“And the question is whether Costner is in those final episodes of this season of ‘Yellowstone’ and my understanding is that, as of now, he is not gonna be in those episodes.”
