Polaris is an upcoming horror thriller drama series written and directed by Lynne Ramsay and starring Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara. Not much is known about its plot except that it is set in Alaska in the 1890s and that Phoenix portrays a photographer. If you are wondering when it is coming out, we got you covered.
Here’s all the Polaris release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there a Polaris release date?
Polaris’ release date could arrive by early 2024. ComingSoon will provide an update when the release date is officially announced.
Polaris marks writer-director Lynne Ramsay’s first film since 2017’s You Were Never Really Here, in which she worked with Joaquin Phoenix as well. It is also her first film based on an original script since 1999’s Ratcatcher, her debutant feature. In an August 2023 interview with Variety, Ramsay stated that the upcoming film might be released under the title Dark Slides.
Ramsay revealed during the same interview that filming had wrapped for Polaris. So, the production has not been impacted by the ongoing actors’ strike, but the same thing can’t be said about the promotion, especially if the strike continues. As of early November 2023, the film has a blanket 2024 release date. However, considering everything, it can likely be narrowed down to early 2024.
This date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.
Where is Polaris coming out?
Polaris is anticipated to come out in theaters in early 2024.
This is because, like the previous four Lynne Ramsay films, Polaris will most probably premiere at Cannes before it is released in theaters.
The official synopsis for Polaris reads:
“Set in Alaska during the 1890s, an ice photographer meets the devil.”
