Attack on Titan Season 4 has finally concluded, and fans want to find out who Mikasa got married to. Did Eren Yeager get to marry her, or was it Jean who ended up with Mikasa? Here’s all you need to know about her partner at the end of the anime.
Did Mikasa Marry Jean in Attack on Titan Season 4?
While it wasn’t explicitly confirmed whether Mikasa married Jean in Attack on Titan Season 4, viewers saw her holding a baby with someone who resembles Jean standing behind her at Eren’s grave.
This ending has proven to be pretty controversial and has created a lot of buzz online. After ending the conflict with Eren in a brutal and highly emotional fashion, many didn’t expect a romance between Mikasa and Jean to become a thing.
The creatives clearly left things up to the viewers’ interpretation. After all, we didn’t get a close-up shot of Mikasa’s partner. But since he looked a lot like Jean, many have chosen to believe that Mikasa and Jean got married in the future.
But in hindsight, the seeds were sown for “Jean-kasa” because Jean always had a crush on her. He got jealous when she was around Eren and got extremely angry when he found out how Eren had mistreated her. It also made sense for Mikasa to move on from Eren after his death.
Why Mikasa did not marry Eren Yeager
Despite having the same feelings for one another, Eren and Mikasa never got to reveal what they felt for each other. Ultimately, Mikasa had to kill Eren to save humanity.
After Eren and his father saved Mikasa’s life, they took her in. The two were raised together until Eren’s parents passed away. Since then, they fought together and protected each other, building a strong unbreakable bond. While their connection felt familial at times, it certainly feels romantic in retrospect.
When Eren’s evil arc began, he hurt her by saying that he never loved her and always hated her. But towards the end, he confessed his loving feelings for her to Armin and asked him to keep them a secret. Viewers also saw how much Mikasa loved Eren right before she had to kill him to save humanity.
In this tragic tale, Eren and Mikasa don’t get to confess their love to each other. But at least the viewers were given closure with the revelation of what they truly felt.
