Is there a Hacks Season 3 release date?
Hacks Season 3’s release date could arrive by spring 2024.
Hacks was renewed for season 3 in June 2022, shortly after the second season finale aired. Production started in November 2022 but temporarily shut down for a few weeks about three months later as Jean Smart, who portrays Deborah Vance, underwent a heart procedure. Production recommenced in March 2023, only to stop again due to the WGA strike.
At a press event in November 2023, Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max, revealed the networks’ 2024 slate. He reportedly mentioned that Hacks Season 3 would come out in spring 2024 before acknowledging that the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike could potentially impact the release dates of several HBO and HBO Max projects.
“Obviously, if it [SAG-AFTRA strike] continues, we’ve got plans,” Bloys said. “It would probably involve moving some things. There are some shows that I showed you that are available earlier than others. So we’ve got scenarios that we would employ. But I’m really, really hoping that we don’t have to.”
With a considerable portion of filming already done, Hacks Season 3 will likely have no issue meeting its spring 2024 release date if the strike ends in a couple of months. Otherwise, it might be a while before it comes out.
In September 2022, the showrunners announced that there would be a one-year time jump between seasons 2 and 3. “We’re in the middle of Season 3 right now, writing it, so we’re still really figuring it out,” Paul W. Downs, who portrays Jimmy LuSaque aside from being the co-creator and co-showrunner, told Deadline. “We do start a year after we left our girls. So there’s a jump in time. A lot has happened.”
