Fans want to know if a new Carrie movie is being developed and if Hunter Schafer is the new actor, following reports suggesting as much. Here is everything you need to know.
Is Hunter Schafer playing Carrie in a new movie?
As of this writing, Hunter Schafer has not been officially confirmed to be playing Carrie in a new movie.
However, reliable scooper DanielRPK, who has a great track record when it comes to his scoops, posted on his Patreon that a new Carrie movie (which will be the second remake of the 1976 Carrie film after the 2013 remake starring Chloe Grace Moretz) was being developed and that Hunter Schafer was being eyed for the role.
Despite DanielRPK’s excellent track record, fans should still take this news with a pinch of salt and wait until official confirmation comes from the makers or producers of said film.
Although it is not confirmed, it is not surprising that Hunter Schafer is being considered for the role of Carrie, a bullied girl who eventually veers off into a dark path, as Schafer previously played Jules Vaughn in HBO’s hit teen-drama series Euphoria, a bullied transgender teen who also goes on a dark path of drugs and violence,
Apart from Euphoria, Schafer is also attached to other interesting projects, which include Tillman Singer’s horror film Cuckoo, where she will play the lead role. This likely makes her an optimal casting choice for the role of Carrie, a horror-genre-related character.
Although DanielRPK has a brilliant track record when it comes to his scoops, it is possible that another actor might be chosen for the lead role in the new Carrie movie. Another scenario would be the remake being scrapped entirely, which is possible as a director has not yet been confirmed for the project.
