Season 1 premiered on January 3, 2018, on Fox, and the series has received a mostly positive response since then. Season 6 originally aired between September 19, 2022, and May 15, 2023. 9-1-1 Season 7’s release date could be around spring 2024 at the earliest.
It was reported in early May 2023 that Fox canceled 9-1-1 after six seasons, and season 7 would be taken up by ABC. Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, said in a statement:
“Thanks to the creative drive of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, as well as the talented cast, 9-1-1 has been one of the most defining and original dramas on network television over the last six seasons, and we are honored to bring it to the esteemed group of series on ABC.”
Like many other productions, 9-1-1 Season 7 was impacted by the Hollywood strikes. In early October 2023, it was reported that the writers’ room for the series had opened after the conclusion of the WGA strike in September. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing, and that will continue to impact production unless the issues are resolved in the next few months. Optimistically, if the filming begins in December 2023 or January 2024, 9-1-1 could come out in spring 2024.
