The Green Lantern-based “Lanterns” series is one of DCU’s most exciting prospects for the future. But which actors will play Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart? Could Channing Tatum be Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern, as new rumors claim? Here’s all you need to know about the latest rumor.
Is Channing Tatum going to be the new Green Lantern?
Channing Tatum hasn’t been cast as Green Lantern, but he is rumored to be a preferred choice for the role.
Scooper John Rocha recently hosted the “Hot Mic Podcast” along with industry insider Jeff Sneider. In it, Rocha claimed that, according to his sources, Warner Bros. likes Sneider’s idea of casting Channing Tatum as Hal Jordan.
While Rocha has proven to be reliable in the past, nothing is confirmed. What’s more, no casting can be officially done until the SAG-AFTRA strike gets lifted. So, we need to take this rumor with a grain of salt.
Warner Bros. has proven interested in a Green Lantern project where an older Hal Jordan recruits and trains a young John Stewart. So, if that storyline is supposed to be the foundation for DCU’s “Lanterns” series, then the 43-year-old Channing Tatum could prove to be a great fit for the role.
The actor returned to acting with films like Dog, The Lost City, and Magic Mike’s Last Dance. He is also rumored to bring Gambit to life with a cameo in Deadpool 3. But after that, he could become DCU’s Green Lantern, as he certainly has the build and acting chops to pull off the role. However, we’d only know for sure after the SAG-AFTRA strike is over.
Which actor will be the new Green Lantern?
An official casting for Green Lantern hasn’t been revealed yet. But Glenn Powell, Miles Teller, and Ryan Gosling are a few great picks for Hal Jordan.
All these actors have the charm, the physique, and witty personas to play Hal Jordan’s Green Lantern. If Warner Bros. is ready to go for even older names, then they could look at Chris Pine or James Marsden as well.
As far as Jon Stewart is concerned, Trevante Rhodes and John Boyega could be interesting names to look into. With that said, we’re no doubt still far away from an official casting for these two Lanterns. Currently, only Nathan Fillion is confirmed to star as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern in Superman: Legacy.
