Hannibal Season 4’s release date is often talked about among fans of the series. Since the Season 3 finale ended on NBC in 2015, fans have been yearning for a fourth season. The popular series follows Will Graham, an FBI agent who is capable of thinking like a serial killer. He finds help from forensic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter, but Lecter harbors many dark and violent secrets himself.
Here’s all the Hannibal Season 4 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there a Hannibal Season 4 release date?
It looks very unlikely that a Season 4 is on the cards. In an interview with Collider in January 2023, months before the show’s 10th anniversary, lead actor Hugh Dancy said that he hoped to return for another season and assured that none of the cast members would decline to do the same.
However, following the release of the third season in June 2015, NBC canceled the series after talks with major streaming platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. This was followed by its official cancellation the same month, according to a report by Sportskeeda. Hugh, for his part, wasn’t surprised that the show hadn’t made its return yet.
The actor stressed the budgetary constraints that would need to be involved to make another full season and said, “Somebody has to write a fairly sizable check… I’m talking about the cost of making a season of television. For a while, it seemed like the streamers were gonna be everybody’s savior, in that respect, but now there’s been a cutoff there. There are shows that are watched by millions of people that don’t make it past a second season. So, I have no idea what that calculation is.”
Hugh Dancy also expressed that the third season ended in a fairly conclusive fashion. Unless the creators come up with another plotline, the chances of a fourth season are very slim.
Hugh Dancy played Will Graham and was accompanied by Mads Mikkelsen, who played Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Other cast members include Laurence Fishburne, Caroline Dhavernas, Scott Thompson, Aaron Abrams, Gillian Anderson, Hettiene Park, and more.

The official synopsis for Hannibal reads:
“Both a gift and a curse, Graham has the extraordinary ability to think like his prey—he sees what they see, feels what they feel. But while Graham is pursuing an especially troubling, cannibalistic murderer, Special Agent Jack Crawford teams him with a highly respected psychiatrist – a man with a taste for the criminal minded – Dr. Hannibal Lecter.”
