At the time of writing, Monster Hunter 2 does not have a release date. This is because the film is neither announced nor in development.
The first Monster Hunter film performed poorly at the box office when it was released in theaters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the first film also received a lot of criticism for its story and direction, and also for supposedly featuring a racist joke, which led to the film being pulled from theaters in China. Thus, it is very likely that Constantin Films, the production house behind Monster Hunter, would not want to invest in making a sequel.
However, on the other hand, there is a chance that Monster Hunter 2 could happen later down the line. The possibility of a sequel was set up in the first film’s conclusion and the film performed well on streaming platforms, with the movie being one of the biggest premieres on Prime Video when it arrived on that platform after its theatrical release. If Monster Hunter goes to more streaming platforms and performs as well, then the makers might decide that a sequel is warranted.
