With Dune 2 preoccupying the minds of sci-fi fans, fans of the epic saga are also looking forward to the release date of Dune: The Sisterhood. The series is a spin-off taking place 10,000 years before the time of Paul Atreides. It follows two Harkonnen sisters who become crucial for the survival of humankind and eventually go on to establish the Bene Gesserit, the sect that appears in the first Dune movie. Dune: The Sisterhood’s release date could arrive sometime in 2024.
The series was put under development in 2019 and began production in late 2022. Director Johan Renck announced its commencement on November 22, 2022, saying:
“Through machinations taking place millennia before the story you all know, we descend into the coven that one day shall be named the Bene Gesserit.”
So taking into account the time needed for filming and the VFX-heavy post-production, the series will arrive in 2024. It was going to arrive after Dune: Part Two. Now with the film arriving on March 15, 2024, it’s still likely that the series will debut after the film.

The series will be inspired by the book Sisterhood of Dune written by Frank Herbert’s son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It focuses on the Harkonnen family’s oldest children, Griffin, and Valya. Emily Watson will be the one to play Valya Harkonnen while Indira Varma, will be Empress Natalya, Mark Strong will be Emperor Javicco Corrino, and Travis Fimmel is playing a charismatic warrior named Desmond Hart.
