With the successful launch of The Red Door, many franchise fans are wondering about the Insidious 6 release date. The fifth outing in the franchise brought back the Lambert family from the original two Insidious movies and told a gripping father-son story between Josh and Dalton Lambert. But did they come back to bid farewell or will they continue in another outing?

Is there an Insidious 6 release date?
Insidious 6 does not have an official release date yet, but it will likely be announced in the future.
When asked about returning for another film, the franchise lead and The Red Door director Patrick Wilson told RadioTimes.com:
“For me and Rose [Byrne]… yeah, it feels pretty final for us. I feel pretty confident in that. That being said, I remember 10 to 12 years ago, we did the second movie and people said, ‘Would you come back for more?’ And I thought ‘I just don’t see how I could’. Now, cut to many years later: director, having the family back, here we are again. So the joy of these movies is that you can – with the time travel elements and all of that, it’s exciting. So down the line, maybe.”
He concluded:
“I don’t say never to anything. I really just don’t operate like that. So don’t confuse my wavering with some weird information that I’m withholding. I just can’t see it right now, but it might be interesting down the line.”
With the way Josh Lambert pushed the demon back into the Red Door, it’s likely that he managed to save himself and his son for the foreseeable future. So, the Lambert family doesn’t need to return for another story for now.
However, with the current popularity of the horror genre, the franchise could still continue, similar to how it did in parts 3 & 4. After all, The Red Door turned out to be the highest-grossing movie of the franchise, and there’s no way Sony would want to end such a profitable franchise. We might get Insidious 6 after 3-4 years, and it could happen with new leads instead of the Lamberts.

Insidious 6, if it’s announced, is expected to come out in the theaters.
It’ll be interesting to see if Wilson would want to return to it after what he said above. Besides Wilson, The Red Door starred Ty Simpkins as Dalton Lambert, Rose Byrne as Renai Lambert, and Sinclair Daniel as Chris Winslow.
