Foundation is based on the novel of the same name by Isaac Asimov. In it, after the Galactic Empire was overthrown, a group of exiles fought to protect the galaxy and rebuild civilization. Now, Season 2 sees the Foundation and Empire on the verge of war, taking place a century after the events of Season 1.
