Tron 3: Ares Release Date Rumors: When is it Coming Out?

Despite being stuck in development limbo, the Tron 3: Ares release date has been on the minds of many fans after the latest updates on the film. Not much is known about this sequel’s story yet, but it has been described as “a compelling exploration of Ares’ journey.” While both of the previous Tron movies took place within digital environments inside the Grid, Tron: Ares could take a page out of The Matrix franchise’s book and partly take place in the real world as well.

Here’s all the Tron 3: Ares release date information we know so far and all the details on when it is coming out.

Is there a Tron 3: Ares release date?

The release date for Tron 3: Ares could arrive sometime in late 2025.

Tron 3 was supposed to go into production in August 2023, but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed filming. Rumors suggested that it would come out on December 19, 2025, but Disney never confirmed it. Furthermore, Avatar 3 already holds that date. So, the rumors of a December release for Tron 3 may be incorrect after all.

Director Joachim Rønning and the rest of the cast are expected to begin filming as soon as the strikes get lifted. So, there is a possibility for Tron 3 to arrive sometime in the second half of 2025. However, if the strikes keep going on, the film could also be pushed to 2026.

These dates are an estimation based on the information we have so far. ComingSoon will provide an update to this story once we receive official details.

Where is Tron 3: Ares coming out?

Tron 3: Ares is expected to come out in the theaters.

It will feature Jared Leto as the lead character, Ares. Starring along with him are a talented set of actors that include Greta Lee Jodie, Turner-Smith, Evan Peters, and Cameron Monaghan, among others.

Considering that Ares is said to be a sequel to Tron: Legacy, it’ll be interesting to see if Jeff Bridges also returns as Kevin Flynn. After all, he was teased to be alive within the Grid by a Tron: Legacy sequel short film, “Tron: The Next Day (2011).”
