Many subscribers wonder why Westworld isn’t currently on Max, previously known as HBO Max. Why isn’t the Jonathan Nolan– and Lisa Joy-created series part of the Max available content? And where can fans stream it in 2023? Here’s what you need to know.
Why is Westworld not on HBO Max?
Westworld isn’t on HBO Max because it’s distributed via FAST channels.
In 2022, Warner Bros. Discovery took a bold step in distributing its content by partnering with Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels. Agreements have been made with The Roku Channel and Tubi to introduce branded channels that will offer plenty of WBD-owned content, like Westworld. The Nevers, Raised By Wolves, and F-Boy Island are also among the titles included in the deal. The announcement came after Westworld’s early cancellation following season 4.
By capitalizing on the growing interest in FAST streaming and expanding their presence through these partnerships, WBD sought to diversify its revenue stream and mitigate recent financial challenges.
Where to stream Westworld in 2023
Fans can stream Westworld on Tubi and Roku in 2023.
To stream Westworld, fans should sign up to Tubi or Roku, search for the “WB TV Watchlist” channel under the “Live TV” tab, and check out when the episodes are aired. Episodes are scheduled at specific times, typically from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, and are aired back-to-back. The option is available only in the United States.
Set in a technologically advanced Wild West-themed amusement park known as Westworld, the sci-fi series premiered on HBO in 2016. The reception of its first seasons was fantastic, but then the enthusiasm grew thinner with seasons 3 and 4 until the show was canceled in November 2022 and removed from HBO Max in December.
