Meg 2: The Trench is finally hitting theaters this weekend and fans are no doubt wondering whether they should stay after the end of the movie for any post-credits footage. Is there an additional end-credit scene once the film is over? Here’s what you need to know, spoiler free.
Is there a post-credit scene in Meg 2: The Trench?
There are no post-credits, end-credit, or mid-credits scenes in Meg 2: The Trench.
Once the credits start rolling, fans can leave the theater. Still, watching until the end of the credits is a nice way to pay homage to those who worked on the film. In addition to featuring no post-credit scene, the latest adventures of Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) end in a pretty straightforward way. Still, it doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be another sequel for the fans hoping to see more clashes between Jonas and the megalodons.
A potential sequel depends on how well the film will do during its theatrical release. Meg 2: The Trench cost a reported budget of $129 million. To be considered fully successful (and thus, leaving the door open for a sequel), it should earn three times that number, hauling at least $360 million at the box office. 2018’s The Meg was a box-office surprise, successfully grossing over $530 million against a $178 million production budget.
Directed by Ben Wheatley from a script penned by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, and Dean Georgaris, Meg 2: The Trench is a live-action adaptation of Steve Alten’s novel The Trench. In addition to Statham, it also stars Wu Jing, Sienna Guillory, Cliff Curtis, Skyler Samuels, Page Kennedy, Shuya Sophia Cai, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta.
