A live-action adaptation of the young-adult novel by Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty revolves around a young girl named Isabel “Belly” Conklin, who spends every summer at a beach house with her mother and older brother, Steven. Belly has always had a crush on the Fisher boys: Conrad and Jeremiah. The summer she turns sixteen, everything starts to change.
The series stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, David Iacono, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard. Season 2 will also introduce Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick in recurring roles.
On Friday, Prime Video will also add The King’s Speech to its catalog. Released in 2010, the movie follows the true story of King George VI and his severe speech impediment. Directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler, it stars Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter in the lead roles. The King’s Speech was a huge box-office success, grossing $427 million over a $15-million production budget. It also won four Academy Awards out of 12 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director for Hooper, Best Actor for Firth, and Best Original Screenplay for Seidler.
