The Rey Star Wars movie was initially rumored to take up the untitled Star Wars release slot of December 2025. However, with Disney’s recent delays, that release slot was moved to May 22, 2026. Therefore, it could be taken up by the Rey Star Wars movie, which has reportedly been titled “Star Wars: New Jedi Order.” It is set to begin production in April 2024, with Steven Knight attached as the writer and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing the film.
The story will take place more than a decade after the ending of Star Wars Episode IX, and Daisy Ridley will likely return as Rey Skywalker. But since there will be a time jump, it will be interesting to see which other characters from the sequel trilogy will return and which new ones will be added to the mix.
