Final Jeopardy Wagers and Winner for January 21
Will became the winner of the January 21 match after a tough battle against Evan. Given the difficulty of today’s Final Jeopardy, it is surprising that Will, let alone any contestant, managed to get the correct answer.
Any other day, having $26,000 heading into Final Jeopardy would be astounding, but for Will it was only good for second place. But his correct answer doubled him up to a whopping $52,000. He becomes a finalist as well, making it 2 for 2 for champions from the Second Chance Tournament several weeks ago.
Evan had an incredible $32,400 going into the segment, but his lack of a guess had him lose $20,000. This left him in second place with $12,400.
Jay didn’t have much to work with at $2,800. He also couldn’t come up with a response, though he risked nothing and left in third with the same total.
Final Jeopardy Answer for January 21
The correct answer for Final Jeopardy on January 21, 2025 is “What is Lorelei?”
This is a particularly difficult clue, despite it combining hints from mythology and geography. The German legend of Lorelei is about a maiden who turned into a siren after fling herself into the Rhine River over a man who had cheated on her. The name of the legend is shared with the rock called Lorelei, which is near what Germany calls Sankt Goarshausen.
The idea that the fabled treasure of the Nibelung was buried near Lorelei is a fairly obscure factoid. The mentions of the Nibelung hoard and the Rhine in the clue, though, are more meant to get the contestants to think about the region and other German myths.
