Many are wondering how long Big Meech has been locked up after news broke that the Black Mafia Family kingpin would be released from prison sooner than expected. 56-year-old Big Meech, real name Demetrius Flenory, is portrayed by his son, Demetrius Flenory Jr., in the hit Starz crime series BMF executively produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Here’s when Big Meech will be out of jail and where he is now before his sentence is over.
How long has Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory been in jail?
Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory has been in jail for 16 years since 2008. He was sentenced 30 years for maintaining a continuing criminal enterprise and money laundering.
Big Meech was arrested in October 2005 after the DEA arrested 30 members of the BMF where they seized $2 million in cash, assets, weapons, and about 2.5 kilograms of cocaine.
Since then, his 30-year sentence was reduced to 20 years, as reported by Black Enterprise. And then in 2024, a judge shortened his sentence even further by three years after being convinced by Flenory’s attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, who argued that he remained an upstanding citizen while serving time. This includes him staying out of trouble since 2021, obtaining an GED, and doing well in prison classes.
When will Big Meech be free from jail?
Big Meech is set to be released from prison on January 27, 2026, according to the federal prison prison via The Associated Press.
In a way, though, Demetrius Flenory is already out of prison as he will serve the remainder of his sentence in a residential reentry center in Miami, as noted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. This center provides community-based services to federal offenders as they reenter society.
His brother Terry Flenory, 54, is serving out his similar sentence in a residential reentry center in Detroit. Terry Flenory will be released from prison on August 17, 2025.
BMF Season 4 could be released as early as 2025.
