Many viewers are wondering about the 2024 Paris Olympics Lady Gaga song during the Opening Ceremony. In a surprise, the popular artist came down the steps hidden by pink fans held by the other dancers before revealing her identity. Lady Gaga didn’t sing any one of her signature songs, but decided to belt out a song in French, which audiences outside of French might not know about. Here’s what Lady Gaga sang as the first song in the 2024 Olympic Games.
What did Lady Gaga sing at the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony?
Lady Gaga sang the French circus song “Mon Truc En Plumes”, otherwise known as “My Thing With Features,” popularized by Zizi Jeanmaire in the 1960s.
You can find a 5-minute performance by Zizi singing this song on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1965. The style of the song and all the fans may remind audiences of flashy dances throughout Las Vegas, and the choreography throughout Lady Gaga’s harkens back to that era.
After coming down a series of stairs painted in gold, Lady Gaga was accompanied by numerous dancers dressed in tight black outfits on stage. To her right was an small orchestral band with a mixture of brass instruments and string instruments. In an interlude in the song, she also played a piano herself for about a half-minute before doing a flourish of kicks and flicks. During one move at the end, the dancers picked up her up into the air while she revealed a large plume of white feathers.
Lady Gaga is just one artist slated to perform at the Opening Ceremony along the Seine river. She will also be performing a duet with Celine Dion, apparently singing the signature Edith Piaf song “La Vie en Rose”. It is rumored that she will also sing another Piaf song beyond that.
