Many fans want to know more about the America’s Got Talent 9-year-old singer, Pranysqa Mishra, after her stunning performance on AGT 2024. Her powerful cover of Tina Turner’s “River Deep – Mountain High” earned her the coveted Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum. In fact, she pressed the golden buzzer so fast that the other judges hardly had a word in. Mishra’s vocals had surprising control and volume for someone so young. But you may be surprised to know that this isn’t the first time the singer has performed on the stage. Here’s what we know so far about Pranysqa Mishra and what she has been doing since her astounding AGT Season 19 audition.
What is America’s Got Talent Pranysqa Mishra doing now?
Singer Pranysqa Mishra from America’s Got Talent 2024 is practicing for the AGT live shows that are scheduled to air in the middle of August.
Outside of AGT, Mishra is best known for her numerous appearances at various sporting events where she sings the national anthem. As noted by her YouTube page, one of Mishra’s earliest recorded performances of her singing “Star-Spangled Banner” was at the NCAA Men & Women’s Basketball in New York back in February 2021.
Since then, she has performed the national anthem at an NBA game with the Miami Heat, an NHL game with the Florida Panthers, and the opening ceremonies for the 2023 U.S. Open Tennis Championships. Even actor Danny Davito was impressed at the ceremonies, giving her a standing ovation.
According to several posts on her Instagram account, she accredits her powerful vocals to her coach, Sharmayne Thomas, who goes by @confidentvoiceacademy on the platform. In Mishra’s short interview during the AGT audition, she also credits her grandmother as a source of inspiration, which is why Mishra called her right after the audition was over.
Mishra joins other singers who have received a Golden Buzzer for Season 19 including Richard Goodall and Liv Warfield when they return for the semifinals. She will compete against other young talents, such as the 10-year-old heavy metal guitarist Maya Neelakantan, for the $1 million grand prize.
What songs can Pranysqa Mishra sing?
Mishra is capable of singing a variety of songs, mainly in the musical genres of pop and soul.
Apart from the national anthem, she has experience with “Skyscraper” by Demi Lovato, “My Heart Will Go On” by Celine Dion, “Chandelier” by Sia, and “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus. In an 2023 interview with Great Day Live in Tampa, Mishra also revealed that some of her favorite songs include “Listen” by Beyoncé and just “high-pitched songs” in general so that she can belt them out. That will serve her well when it comes to impressing the live audience and viewers during the upcoming semifinals.
During her AGT audition, Mishra revealed that some of her favorite artists are Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston. On that front, she performed Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way” on stage at the Apollo Broadway Theatre in New York City in October 2022. So we wouldn’t be surprised if she chooses this song again for her semifinal performance (or finale performance if she makes it through her bracket.)
Taken altogether, she has a lot of options to choose from for her next appearance. We are not yet certain when Mishra will appear in the AGT live shows, as NBC has yet to reveal which contestants will be grouped together for the semifinals. We’ll likely learn more when all eight audition episodes are over. We should also note that the talent show will take a short two-week break after the auditions are done, since NBC will be airing the 2024 Paris Olympics between July 26 and August 11, 2024.
