The Real CSI Miami: What Happened to Jeremy Macauley & Adrian Demblans?

The premiere episode of The Real CSI Miami ended with convictions for Jeremy Macauley and Adrian Demblans for the 2015 murders of Tara Rosado and Carlos Ortiz. The debut of this true crime version of the popular CSI Miami show followed detectives and forensic scientists as they gathered evidence to discover who was responsible for the fatal shooting in Tavernier, Florida. The final lines of the episode briefly share in text what happened to Macauley and Demblans, stating that Macauley had a retrial in May 2024 and that Demblans had already been released from prison. Here’s a breakdown of where both Macauley and Demblans are now.

Where is Jeremy Macauley now?

On May 14, 2024, Jeremy Ward Macauley was found guilty for a second time by a 12-member jury for the murder of Rosado and Ortiz, as reported by The Key West Citizen. He was sentenced in the original 2017 trial to two consecutive life sentences in addition to 30 years for robbery with a firearm.

In 2020, the Third District Court of Appeal overturned Macauley’s original conviction. This ruling by the appellate courts was made due to Judge Luis Garcia, the presiding judge of the original trial, refusing to allow evidence suggesting that Kristian Demblans, the identical twin brother of Adrian Demblans, was the one responsible for the shooting.

As revealed in the episode, Macauley already appealed this guilty conviction on June 7, 2024.

Where is Adrian Demblans now?

Adrian Demblans was released out of prison early in May 2022 after serving eight years for accessory after the fact of a murder. Demblans was originally serving a ten-year sentence after pleading guilty in exchange for turning state’s evidence against Macauley.

During the 2024 retrial for Macauley, Demblans stated on the witness stand that he did know that Macauley planned to murder Rosado and Ortiz, as reported by the Miami Herald. Demblans contended that he drove Macauley to the victims’ Tavernier residence only to deliver money and silence an extortion attempt by Ortiz.
