Be warned that we’ll be discussing spoiler-filled sections of the show. So, if you haven’t watched the show yet, here’s where you can watch it – The Acolyte on Disney+.
With four episodes down, we are halfway through season one of Star Wars The Acolyte. Ever since its premiere on June 4, the show has been a hot topic among fans of the franchise. Both fans and theorists are looking at every frame for a glimpse of an easter egg or a clue that could be foreshadowing future episodes. After watching all four episodes, we’ve got some questions and theories of our own and we’ll take you through some of them in this article.
Where Episode 4 Left Us Hanging
Episode 4 ended with the Jedi group and the mysterious Sith lord finally coming face-to-face. The Jedi, in our opinion, got a bit hasty and rushed to attack because all it took was a simple force push from the Sith lord to throw them on their backs. This cliffhanger has spiked excitement for episode 5, as it will be the first time we’ll see a proper lightsaber fight since the show’s beginning. The show took its sweet time to give us a battle and we expect it to blow us off our feet just like the Jedi were.

1. Will We Finally See Who the Mysterious Sith Lord Is in Episode 5?
The show made it pretty clear in the very first episode that Mae is serving a Sith lord and has trained under him for years. He has been the one fueling Mae’s obsession with killing the Jedi one by one. In the following episodes, the show has dropped a few hints about this mysterious Sith, but considering the events in the latest episode, all hints point towards Qimir. Hints like Qimir saying that Osha is very fond of Jedi Master Sol even though he never saw them interact with each other or him conveniently wandering in the jungle around the time when the Wookiee Jedi Master Kelnacca was killed. With episode 5 just around the corner, there is an expectation of a high-octane action sequence and a possibility that we will finally be able to see who is under that mask.
2. Is There Another Sith That We Don’t Know Of?
At the end of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Master Yoda says, “Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice”. This brings us to think if there is already another Sith that we don’t know about because despite Mae training for years under the current mysterious Sith lord, she doesn’t wield a lightsaber, nor does she know the identity of her master. If Qimir actually turns out to be the master, he would be too young to have an apprentice. This could mean two things: either he is still training Mae to be his apprentice, or he is the apprentice with a master of his own. He could be just manipulating Mae into killing a few Jedi before his true master shows up.
What do you think? Are we stretching this theory out too far? Let us know in the comments.
3. What Really Happened in Brendok 16 Years Ago?
Episode 3 is the most controversial episode of the show yet; you can check the entire recap here. Skipping to the end of the episode, we see Mae try to stop her sister, Osha, from joining the Jedi by trying to kill her (*sigh* let’s not get into the logic of that). She burns her diary, which somehow burns down the entire stone palace (again, logic!). But it can’t be this bad, right? Considering that none of the witches’ bodies were burnt, it does seem unlikely that they would have died from the fire. We don’t get to see Osha and Mae’s mother Koril’s body either, so where could she be? If anything, the movies have shown us that if we don’t see a body, they’re probably not dead. In all of this chaos, Master Sol somehow made his way in and was able to locate the twins, but unfortunately he could only save Osha.
It was a weird set of events, which makes us think that something else happened offscreen that is yet to be discovered in future episodes. Were the Jedi involved in starting the fire? Did they kill all the witches? Where is Mother Koril? Is this why Master Indara and Master Torbin were not surprised to see Mae? How did Mae survive the fire? There are so many things just from this episode alone that are unsaid. Guess we’ll have to wait for the next four episodes to find out.
4. How Were the Twins Born?
During a conversation between Mother Koril and Mother Aniseya in episode 3, we get to know that Osha and Mae don’t have a father. Aniesya created them and Koril carried them. This infamously became the “lore-breaking dialog” because, until now, we knew that Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one as he was the only one born of the force. Since the show takes place roughly 100 years before the prequels, it makes Anakin being the chosen one less significant. So, is Star Wars trying to break its own lore, or did Mother Aniseya create the twins using a different method? This has yet to be seen and, hopefully, will be answered before the season ends.
5. Osha vs Mae: When?
Whenever a show uses twins as its main characters, it is only natural that they will have to go against each other at some point. We may have heard Mae wanting to surrender herself to the Jedi because her “loyalty” belongs to her sister, but we believe that it is going to be short-lived. It is only a matter of time before things go haywire. But, Osha and Mae could go back to their respective masters to complete their training before they actually cross their sabers.
If there’s one thing that most Star Wars shows and movies actually get right, it’s the lightsaber fight. They are an absolute visual treat for the eyes and ears and we’re not-so-patiently waiting.
Those were our top picks for questions that we need answered. Let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments. Also, if you’re a fan of Disney, be sure to check out our review of The Acolyte; the new Star Wars series now streaming on Disney Plus.
