Best Crunchyroll Series & Shows to Watch Now (April 2024)

Working out the best Crunchyroll series and shows to watch in April 2024 can be tough, since this month is essentially a break for a lot of anime. But this is a good time to catch up on a lot of popular shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, or follow some new series that are airing like One Piece. In fact, there’s a good mix of Shonen Jump action, isekai adventures, and slice-of-life mysteries for you to pick from this month on CrunchyRoll.

What are the best Crunchyroll series to watch in April 2024?

There are a lot of choices for the best Crunchyroll series to watch in April 2024. We recommend watching (or re-watching) some of most popular Shonen Jump animes out there, along with a few shorter animes that recently finished their debut season. There’s also a few shows that will start airing soon as well in case you’re looking for something new to binge.

The Apothecary Diaries

If you’re looking for an anime with fewer battles and more slice-of-life drama, then we recommend putting The Apothecary Diaries on your radar. This series follows a young girl named Maomao who has the unfortunate luck of getting kidnapped and being forced to work as a servant in the Imperial Palace. While she was fine remaining relatively unknown, her past as an apothecary comes to the fore when the emperor’s sons contract a mysterious illness. Eventually, her talents are recognized by a eunuch and Maomao begins to help the court solve various medical mysteries.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

The fourth season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is releasing soon. It’s yet another very popular anime that’s more serious in tone and has intense action scenes. The story features Tanjiro Kamado who is compelled to become a demon slayer after his family is decimated and his sister Nezuko is transformed into a demon herself. The latest season saw the pair head to Swordsmith Village to join up with other members in the Hashira. We won’t spoil anything more than that, but suffice it to say, it’s a fantastic series that’s worth binging.

Jujutsu Kaisen

The Guinness World Records has recently recognized Jujutsu Kaisen as the most in-demand TV show in the world. That’s above anime juggernauts like One Piece and Attack on Titan in addition to other more serious TV shows like The Last of Us. If that doesn’t convince you that Jujutsu Kaisen is the hottest series right now, we’re not sure what will. In case you don’t know much about this anime, it follows the student Yuji Itadori as he joins the Jujutsu Sorcerers to destroy powerful curses that usually take the shape of evil humanoids. The first two seasons are available on the Crunchyroll streaming service and we believe that the third season of the show won’t be out for a while, so there’s a lot of time for you to catch up.

Kaiju No. 8

If you’re looking for something new to watch, Kaiju No. 8 (or Kaijuu 8-gou) is one of the most anticipated animes this year. The manga, serialized in Shonen Jump, was a major hit in 2023, so this upcoming adaptation has been on the many people’s radar for a while. The plot centers on the 32-year-old Kafka Hibino who joins The Defense Force to defeat Kaijus, but one day a small Kaiju enters his body. While this gives him a lot of strength, he finds that this creature may be taking over his mind. Will he be able to control the power of the Kaiju growing within him?

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

The third season of KonoSuba is well on its way. If you haven’t heard of this isekai yet, its story focuses on a NEET named Kazuma Satou who is reincarnated in an MMORPG by the power of the goddess Aqua. Unlike other animes in the genre, where the protagonist chooses a a powerful item or ability, Satou instead chooses the goddess as a companion in his party. Soon enough, the pair is joined by the magician Megumin and the crusader Darkness so that they can kill the Devil King. However, when that seems like a lost cause, Kazuma decides to live a regular life and deny his call to action. But the influence of the Devil King is growing and he might not have a choice to avoid his fate any longer.

My Hero Academia

In a similar vein, My Hero Academia is another good choice. If you haven’t started this popular anime yet, we’re not sure if you can get through all six seasons of this Shonen Jump anime in time for the season seven debut. Even so, it’s a great show to start, since it follows the story of an underdog, a human named Izuku Midoriya who has no superpowers but still hopes to be a superhero. Luckily, the great All Might sees something special in him and gets him enrolled into a school for making superheroes. For those keeping up with the series, the seventh season will begin around the 34th volume of the manga, covering chapters 329 to 342 and a part of the Final War arc. The students at U.A. High are about to battle the Paranormal Liberation Front, but some believe that some of the villains can be saved.

One Piece

The great saga that is One Piece is still going strong. The anime rather comfortably crossed the 1000-episode milestone a while ago, so picking it up now might be very intimidating at this point. But if the live-action One Piece on Netflix has made you interested in the series, Crunchyroll is one of the best places to watch the anime since it has every episode. For those still keeping up with series, the Straw Hat crew has finally landed on Egghead Island and is dealing with threats on two fronts. Just how are they going to get out of this mess?

Solo Leveling

Also known as Only I Level Up, Solo Leveling is a Korean production that follows an unremarkable hunter named Sung Jinwoo. Among all the warriors who have special abilities to kill monsters, he’s one of the worst. But after barely surviving an excursion into a dungeon that is far above his capabilities, he is chosen by the System that gives him the ability to level up and turn enemies that he kills into his followers. Fortunately, all 12 episodes of the first season are available on Crunchyroll, so you can get through them all in a couple of days.
