Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door & Mario vs. Donkey Kong Remakes Revealed for Nintendo Switch

During today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, upcoming Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Mario vs. Donkey Kong remakes were unveiled with trailers.

The Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door trailer sets up the premise of Mario traveling to Rogueport at the request of Princess Peach and meeting all sorts of memorable characters like Goombella, Madame Flurrie, and Koops. The remake is set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2024.

The Mario vs. Donkey Kong trailer shows off the puzzle-platforming gameplay and the mechanics that the original title was known for. It also recaps the story of Donkey Kong stealing Mini-Mario toys, leading Mario to chase after him to reclaim the toys. The Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake is set to release for the Nintendo Switch on Friday, February 16, 2024, with pre-orders beginning today on the Nintendo eShop.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door originally released for the GameCube on October 11, 2004 and served as a sequel to the N64 game Paper Mario. It was well-received, with many fans heralding it as the best Paper Mario title to this day. Mario vs. Donkey Kong was originally released for the Game Boy Advance on May 24, 2004. It released to positive reception and led to multiple sequels across Nintendo consoles.
