It’s been a few years since Persona fans got their long-awaited fifth installment in the franchise and now publishing company Atlus has debuted a new trailer unveiling the expanded edition of the RPG hit entitled Royal and a release date of March 31, 2020 for the PlayStation 4! Pre-orders are currently available for the Royal Edition will come with an original theme as a bonus alongside all of the original Persona 5 downloadable content, which will be free for all players.
In the new RPG experience, players will don the mask of Joker and join the Phantom Thieves of Hearts and break free from the chains of modern society and stage grand heists to infiltrate the minds of the corrupt and make them change their ways. They will also get to explore Tokyo, unlock new Personas, customize their own personal Thieves Den, discover a never-before-seen story arc, cutscenes, alternate endings and more!
Persona is an RPG series set in cities and high schools in modern-day Japan. It focuses on the growth of adolescents who, upon the awakening of their “Persona” abilities, overcome various trials together. The heart of the Persona series is the clashing of ordinary events such as school life, friendship, and love, with the extraordinary such as urban legends, strange rumors, bizarre occurrences, and glimpses of the dark side of society. You will assume the role of a second-year high school student who becomes a Persona-user through an unexpected incident. Having moved to Tokyo just before the start of the school year, he finds residence at a cafe run by his parents’ friend and is about to get his first taste of school life in the big city. The protagonist seems quiet and well-mannered at first glance but gives a completely different impression once he has donned his “phantom thief” guise. What is the motivation of his alter ego?
